The primary objective of the Berlin Film Community is to provide a nurturing environment for filmmakers to thrive. Whether individuals are seasoned professionals or completely new to the craft, we aim to create a welcoming space where everyone can feel at home. We understand that we were all once novices ourselves, and this community is precisely what we would have desired during our own journey in the field. Our group exudes a warm and inviting atmosphere, ensuring that individuals who may feel intimidated by the equipment, the filmmaking process, or their lack of knowledge are embraced.

I have been actively involved in this community from its inception in 2016, alongside 20 other members. In 2019, I assumed the role of management, with my partner Alex Depew. As of today, our community boasts an impressive membership of 19.6 thousand individuals.

Our community serves a more significant purpose than simply networking. We strive to facilitate the actualization of film projects by bringing together those with ideas for films and individuals eager to contribute their talents and support to these endeavors. This inspired the birth of our Pitch and Planning Sessions. Additionally, we established the Drink, Watch, Talk event—a short film screening that often highlights the work of local filmmakers, providing them with a platform to showcase their creations and engage in insightful discussions with the audience. Moreover, we organize weekend workshops that adopt a hands-on approach, enabling participants to acquire the fundamental skills of filmmaking.
